AboutFE-ABT-001  ·  Rev. A

Built the way we build cars: one system at a time.

Formation Engineering started simply: helping friends go racing. Support weekends became wiring work. Wiring became calibration. Calibration became responsibility for complete vehicles, and the software to run them. Today we engineer, build, and develop race and road cars from Las Vegas, Nevada, and we document the work decision by decision.

The company is two people who met over a shared conviction: that the standard of engineering common in professional motorsport should be available at club level, and that the tools to deliver it are worth building yourself.

Max Putze
Co-founder · Chief Technical Officer
Max Putze
B.S. Mechanical Engineering, University of San Diego

Max started at 13 in Germany, changing tires and rebuilding engines, and was on track at 19 in a Miata. His path runs through performance parts for Formula Drift and off-road trucks, and leadership of the chassis and integration team at Baja SAE. His benchmark personal build: a turbocharged BMW E30 on a modern CAN network with motorsport electronics and Mil-Spec wiring throughout.

Co-founder · Chief Operating Officer
Scott Budshaw
NASA competition license, 2021 · podiums and national-level results

Scott spent five years at Sin City BMW across customer relations, parts, and performance consulting. He started competing in 2015 in a 1988 BMW 325, moved to an E36 M3, and has run monthly track weekends since 2018. Twelve years of Division I competitive swimming shaped a data-driven approach to driver and vehicle development, and mastering standalone engine management in his own car turned that discipline into a profession.

How we work

02
01Learn the core conceptsUnderstand the principles of what you are working on, and what actually drives the result.
02Analyze the challengesImmerse in the failures, flaws, and deficiencies. The problem defines the engineering.
03Implement the best toolsIn a rapidly advancing field, adopt and build the tools that multiply the work. That is why we write our own software.
